Diseño tras Diseño: Why I'm Returning to an Idea I Put on Hold
A few years ago, I launched a podcast called Diseño tras Diseño. It only lasted three episodes — a trailer and two conversations about specialization and motivation in design. Then life moved on, and the project sat quietly on Spotify, untouched.
I'm bringing it back today. Not as audio, but as words. Here's why.
It was never about the format
I've always been drawn to expressing ideas through more than one channel. Writing, sound, visual language — I don't experience them as separate skills, I experience them as different vehicles for the same thing: trying to say something, tell something, and share the kind of knowledge I wish I'd had when I was younger and making decisions without it.
Music and sound have always amplified that for me. I can't create without them running in the background — they don't just accompany the work, they stimulate the thinking itself. That's part of why podcasting appealed to me in the first place. It was never about following a trend. It was a genuine want: a space to say what I actually think about design, and to document how I was experiencing it at that stage of my life.
Design was never just design
Looking back, design has never been the whole story for me — it's been one expression of something broader. Over the years I've moved through illustration, branding, audiovisual work, and eventually strategic communication, and each shift wasn't a departure from design so much as a widening of it.
At some point I realized what I was actually looking for wasn't better visual solutions — it was better communication. That distinction changed how I approached everything. Moving toward communication directly opened up a different way of thinking and expressing: not just solving visual problems (which, fair enough, is the core job of a graphic designer), but asking questions about language itself — how people think, how they say things, and how to say more, think further, go beyond the brief.
Writing has always been the constant
If there's one format that's stayed with me my whole life, it's writing. As a kid, I made my own notebooks by hand — I've always loved things that are handcrafted. Then it moved to notebooks, then to iPads, but the habit never left.
What works about writing, specifically, is that I'm a visual person, and my writing reflects that. It's rarely linear. It's often words, sketches, arrows connecting ideas — closer to visual thinking than to a clean paragraph. Writing lets me think the way I actually think.
The podcast paused because of time and focus, not because the intent behind it disappeared. What I want now is to tell stories that aren't just stories — that carry something useful for people who have gone through, are going through, or will eventually go through a stage like the one I've been in.
What to expect
Starting now, I'll be publishing a new post every week, life permitting — design cases, experiences that turned into real lessons, and sources that actually made a difference for me (not just the ones everyone recommends).
This is Diseño tras Diseño, written. Let's see where it goes.
